UF Early Childhood Collaboratory at Baby Gator provides high-quality early education to children of UF students, faculty and staff. Our focus is developing the whole child while supporting families on campus. Additionally, UF ECC supports the University through site placement for interns, course assignment completion and volunteer hours for students as well as research opportunities for faculty and graduate students. Early childhood education sets the foundation for social and academic success in life. Supporting UF ECC is an investment in the future of the Gator Nation.
High quality children’s literature promotes language and cognitive skill development. When children’s books are connected to the curriculum concepts, teachers can use them to build skills and knowledge across multiple developmental domains. When the books that connect to the curriculum are readily available, teachers can spend more time planning for those connections. Because teachers may not be able to find appropriate books at libraries or in their personal collections, having the books that are connected to our learning plans on site also builds consistency across our program.
